RailAdvice assists Bane NOR with RAMS consulting in several signaling projects.

It was a pleasant start to the Christmas holidays 2023 for RailAdvice when we were awarded Bybanen Utvikling's framework agreement for the position as safety manager.

Alstom is the supplier of new local trains to Norske tog, and our senior consultant Ole Johansen has had the role as Project Documentation Manager.

Many of the maintenance machines for Sporveien (trams) have either passed or are approaching the end of their expected lifetime. This has a significant impact on the machines' reliability and availability, and maintenance costs increase. Furthermore, some machines do not meet today's requirements for safety and HSE. Therefore, there is a strong need to upgrade the machinery to ensure predictability and quality of maintenance.

In 2015, Flytoget signed the contract with the Spanish train-producer CAF, for delivery of 8 new train sets.

In 2020, Norske tog AS invited to a competition to deliver new local trains to Norway. 30 new local trains, with an option for another 170 vehicles, will replace current aging vehicles from 2024 and onwards. An international rolling stock supplier asked RailAdvice to assist with their offer, we fielded a strong team consisting of Karin Johansson, Ingvar Fleten and Lars Mortvedt.

Three people were injured in a work accident in November 2020. RailAdvice was engaged by Elecnor to investigate the technical cause of the accident.

Sporveien wants to strengthen the offer on the metro in line with increased demand. The Fornebu line will open according to plan in 2027. Planning work is ongoing for a new city centre tunnel, a new station at Majorstua and in addition shall a new signalling and safety system be introduced on the metro. A strengthening of the offer predicts that enough metro cars are available to operate the network.

Our senior consultant Lars Mortvedt, as project manager for coordination and closure of the start-up phase, and establishment in the new workshop facilities in Bergen.

From August 2021 was our senior consultant Eirik Wærn Bratland asked to assist Flytoget as interim maintenance manager.

Bybanen Utbygging is well underway with construction phase 4, which is scheduled to open at the turn of the year 2022/2023. The new line will run from Bergen city centre to Fyllingsdalen.

In order to ensure a stable vehicle fleet that will handle the demand for long-distance train journeys between the regions, it is necessary to procure new vehicles.

The need for track maintenance on the metro lines is increasing because of increased scheduled traffic, in addition to the fact that the metro has gradually built up its route schedule since the opening of Lørenbanen in 2016. The Fornebu line, CBTC signalling system and new metro cars will further increase the need.

RailAdvice has been awarded a contract to support Bane NOR with RAMS-related tasks in small and medium-sized development projects.

In the spring of 2020, RailAdvice assisted the Vy group with procurement of 8 coaches of type BFWL1 (formerly BDcm 874.1) from Germany for traffic on the Bergen line from December 2021.

RailAdvice's senior consultant Lars Berggren is part of the team that works with system safety and safety approval.

Go-Ahead got the contract for “Train service package 1“ (south), starting operation in December 2019 and lasting up to 10 years. This included the Oslo S - Stavanger via Kristiansand long distance service, local service Stavanger – Sandnes – Egersund and regional service Arendal line.

Since 2016 have parts of passenger traffic by train been exposed to competition. So far, have three traffic packages been allocated, respectively to Go-Ahead (South), SJ (North), and Vy (West).

In connection with a rolling stock supplier's work with the tender for new local trains to Norway and new long-distance trains to Sweden, they requested assistance with analysing the market for electric multiple unit (EMU) trainsets in these two countries.
